This page describes the actual design part of the web design process.

Visual design of your website

If you opt for a Basic web design, then you will have a choice from over 400 Drupal themes to choose from and we can install and configure these for you as you wish.  A theme determines the overall look and feel of a website and where different blocks (e.g. links, a banner, etc. are placed).  For the vast majority of themes, we can also move blocks around, choose where your navigation links will go, add a drop-down menu and with some themes, change the colour scheme.  Drupal is organised in such a way that if you ever wanted to change the theme in the future, you could do so without changing the content or page layout of your website.

If you opt for the Pro or Ecommerce / Community web design, then we will create an original design for you and tailor the site to your preferences and requirements - including choosing a colour theme, fonts, layout and a logo design.  Our in-house graphic designer can create a range of images, such as logos, banners, background images and other illustrations to ensure your site has a unique and professional feel.

Creating content

If you'd like us to create content for you

At your request, we can work together to create text for your English or French web site. We anticipate having to create a certain amount of content for each website, so this is included in the price, however if you would like us to write all or most of the content for you, please mention this when asking for a quote.

Martin, our chief web designer in France, has a Degree in Psychology, creates cryptic crosswords for The Big Issue and has previously worked as a Business Manager in London. He is a dedicated people person and a gifted wordsmith with a talent for writing text that is well-structured, succinct and interesting.  He is also an SEO expert and all content will have a good balance of keywords for Search Engines, while reading well to end-users.

Allison is our Head of Graphic Design and a Fine Arts graduate from Goldsmith University College and her illustrations and paintings have appeared on magazines covers, in books, board games, various promotional material and websites. If you commission Allison to include illustrations, then they will be provided in a high-resolution format for printing, as well as a low-resolution format (and therefore quicker to upload) for the internet.

Agnes, our English to French translator, speaks both languages fluently and works with Martin on writing text for French web design projects.

If you have a clear vision for your website

It may be that you know exactly what you want - you already have the text and images and have an idea of the style and layout of the site.

If this is the case, we will discuss navigation options, fonts and so on with you and explain how the site will look on different computers.

We then create the layout for the site using the Drupal content management system (Drupal CMS) - which is a piece of software that allows you to edit your own website by adding new pages, changing text, uploading new pictures, etc and you can then easily add the content to these pages if you so wish.

For every website we design, we build search engine optimization (SEO) into the structure of the site, so it will appear high with search engines. Once you have added the content, we then revisit the site to further optimise the content of specific pages and either suggest changes or make them ourselves to ensure the important pages all appear well with search engines for your core keywords.  For medium to large sites, we will focus on a few core pages, as it's important that you also have the freedom to write whatever you want to write and communicate your message without having to think about SEO on some of the internal pages.
