Design - Stage 2
Choosing Keywords
At the planning
stage we will have made notes of several keywords to include on
your site - what your business focus is, what you think clients are
likely to search for, etc. We also do some brainstorming to generate
more keywords, such as synonyms (e.g. creative, innovative, artistic),
generalisations (e.g. clothing as well as T-shirts) and other related
concepts.
That said, it's
important to know which search terms are most popular. For example,
do most people search for 'sky-diving' or 'sky dive'? Obviously if this
was your business, we would aim to get you on the first page with both
search terms, but which 10 or so search terms should we focus on?
Luckily we can
discover which the most frequent searches are on the leading search engines and we then use this to deduce the most relevant
search terms for your site.
We can also include
different key words in the meta tags of each page, to ensure
that each page is relevant to its contents. See Writing good meta tags for more information.
You may also want to try a free Keyword Suggestion Tool.
